Develop A Culture Of Learning Experiences

Have you ever found yourself in practice or in your life, getting immersed in the seriousness, importance and significance of who you are and what you do? After all, making the changes to people’s lives that you do as a chiropractor is a serious business. It is important to get it right and to produce the best results that you can and to this end isn’t it important to get everything right and therefore not attempt things that are risky or experimental?

The trap within this is that you can create a culture of rigidity and reluctance on the part of all those around you to try new things, to do things differently or to even make mistakes?

It is very easy to become intolerant to mistakes and errors. It’s easy to discourage risk and experimentation. It’s common to become rigid in your habits and rituals. These are the ingredients for stifling your development and stagnating your practice and your business.

Being aware of this is to take on a counterintuitive position of encouraging risk and experimentation.

Now, risk and experimentation as singular actions may get the energy up (for better or for worse) around the practice but they will not necessarily create constructive change. It is how you frame the risk and experimentation that counts.

The outcome of any action is that it is a ‘learning experience’. For a learning to be gained from an experience there must be a reflection upon the event after it has occurred. There must be a test and measure performed to glean from the situation the distinctions that it contained.

If you want to grow your practice (and yourself) the formula then must be:
Risk and Experimentation + Distinction of Results = Learning Experience.

Challenge yourself and support your team to discover ways that work and equally ways that don’t work in every aspect of your business. From the systems and procedures to communication and clinical interactions be willing to create a culture of ‘Learning Experiences’.
