The key distinction that you must address here is that of whether you truly delegated both the AUTHORITY and the RESPONSIBILITY for a given position of responsibility, activity or job. Often the case is that the principle or manager will only just delegate the job neglecting to assign with it the power to decide and act.
This is a trap for all as it disempowers that team member and they don’t grow due to a lack of full authority. It creates a ‘log jam’ for the principal or manager as everything keeps coming back to them for the final decision. This is especially noticeable in the owner’s absence.
